BCRC Introduction
BC Spring Reptile Expo April 28 - 29, 2012 Abbotsford, B.C - Hosted by the BCRC! Attention all members and non members! Please see the membership section for up to date information on becoming a paying member to help support BCRC and the upcoming BCRC Spring Reptile Expo! The need for a reptile club in BC was required to have our voice heard in the new proposed reptile legislation being worked on by the government. The prohibited reptile list which was put in place and can be viewed by clicking here. Though some people would argue about some of the species listed, over all the list was a step in the right direction for responsible reptile pet ownership. With the prohibited list in place the BC Reptile Club needed a new agenda , it was decided public education and assisting with reptile rescuing and relocation would be the main focus of the club . In the fall of 2009 the BC Reptile Club held our first show and sale in Abbotsford which turned out to be the largest reptile show being held in BC. For 2011 we will be hosting two reptile show and sales , the first being held June 11 and 12 in Abbotsford . Since 2008 a few of our board members took a personal interest and have found homes for reptiles, these people do this for the sake and health of the animals and look for no recognition in return . The reptile shows also allowed the BC Reptile Club to raise money to help out the North Island Reptile Rescue and reptiles that were in the care of Dr Adrian Walton of the Dewdney Animal Hospital. We would like to thank all the BCRC paid members and sponsors for helping us make this all possible. If you would like to become a BCRC paid member, please check out the Membership thread at the top of every forum section. As of right now, quite a few breeders are offering discounts and perks to BCRC paid members and we are working on getting more perks in the future.
